Pankaj Joshi is a Conservation Architect, based in Mumbai. He studied architecture at Academy of Architecture,Mumbai and received an MA in Conservation Studies at the Institute of Advanced Architectural Studies, University of York, UK.

Pankaj is the Founder Trustee of Urban Centre Trust, and Principal Director at Urban Centre Mumbai, Dadar, a not-for-profit organisation, exploring participatory models of planning to inform governance, policy frameworks and design.

Over last two and half decades Pankaj has served as a member of the Mumbai Heritage Conservation Committee (MHCC), GoM, and was on the Board of Governors of Heritage Conservation Society of MMRDA (MMR-HCS). Pankaj was former Executive Director at Urban Design Research Institute (UDRI). He has been instrumental in initiating UDRI's research advocacy projects as well as publication Mumbai Reader (since 2006) in English, Hindi and Marathi, an annual compilation providing a glimpse of the complex urban dynamics in Mumbai and the Metropolitan Region. He was also an Executive Committee Member at Comet Media Foundation, Mumbai, Associate at Partners in Urban Knowledge Action and Research (PUKAR), Executive Committee member of Charles Correa Foundation, Goa, and is a Member Trustee of SAVE Forum, an Environment Action Group in North Mumbai.

Pankaj has taught at several schools of architecture in Mumbai and has been the Joint Convener of the Mumbai Study Group, an inter-disciplinary forum at Academy of Architecture. His professional practice is operated through offices in Mumbai and Goa covering more than hundred projects in architecture, heritage conservation, urban planning and urban design. He has authored a wide range of articles and publications on heritage conservation and urban planning and design, and has delivered lectures at universities and conferences in India, USA and Italy.
