Research and Advocacy

Along with the education programmes, SEA is also home to two other academic programmes on Research and Advocacy. These are not only internal research generating and dissemination creating mechanisms, but are also aimed towards establishing SEA as a think tank on developmental issues. 

SEA City

SEA City is conceived as an Advocacy Platform focused on bringing together different stakeholders to discuss a variety of issues. It role is to host workshops, seminars, conferences; publish newsletters, journals, books; and also to set up exhibitions and other events towards engaging with and informing various practices in the Society at large.The school’s curriculum benefits from the vast Research base created by these two entities.

SEA Studio

SEA Studio is conceived as a Research Centre focused on initiating and undertaking research on architecture, environment, urbanism and other allied disciplines. It aims at generating new knowledge on habitats across the contexts of the global south. Current projects are"

1. Connected Cities: A multidisciplinary research project on electronic clusters in three cities, Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi, in collaboration with Solomon Benjamin and Bhuvana Raman.

2. Housing Typologies in Mumbai: A detailed account of Housing typologies in Mumbai, their histories and urban form.

3. Community Infrastructures for coastal ecologies of Madh Marve in Mumbai
